The Director of Development leads PeaceGeeks’ development strategy which includes end-to-end grants and direct fundraising management, and the growth, cultivation, stewardship, and management of PeaceGeeks’ individual donor community.

The Role

This position works closely with the CEO, as well as, the Product, Communications, and Marketing teams to execute the development strategy. This role engages the board of directors, builds sponsor connections, and manages fundraising staff.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development is responsible for the following:

● Develop a strategic fundraising plan, including cultivation, solicitation and management of a community of small and regular donors, as well as high net worth donors (over $20,000/year)
● Provide strategic advice and guidance to PeaceGeeks’ CEO and team on fundraising opportunities and priorities for the organization in the form of campaigns, direct donations, fundraising events, and grant applications.
● Write, edit, review and submit grant applications in collaboration with other team members
● Engage and support the Board Fundraising Committee to support their efforts to cultivate and solicit funding for PeaceGeeks’ work
● Manage fundraising calendar (schedule of communications and events related to stewardship and solicitation) for individual, corporate and major giving
● Other related duties and operational support as required
● Grow the ability to recruit, hire and manage a fundraising and grants team

What you'll bring to it

● Min. 5 years of progressive Development, Fundraising, and Outreach experience
● Experience in a small nonprofit or start-up environment is an asset.
● Proven track record of progressively successful fundraising, with primary or sole responsibility for leading direct giving campaigns and fundraising (grants, major gifts, legacy giving) that netted >$1,000,000 in annual revenue.
● Strong self-starter, with proven ability to both develop and implement a multi-stream fundraising strategy
● Capable of representing and communicating the PeaceGeeks brand, with a compelling narrative grounded in our mission and vision, to sponsors
● Demonstrated experience in community engagement and/ or managing stakeholder relations
● Comfortable with and enjoy being a jack-of-all-trades
● Strong client-facing and internal communication skills
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
● A demonstrated interest and awareness of global issues
● Experience in the technology, non-profit or immigration sector is an asset
● Lived experience of im/migration is an asset

Compensation & Benefits

● Salary range is between $97,000 - $101,000 per annum (less mandatory withholdings). Salary is determined based on relevant experience and is determined by a multi-year grant; therefore offers cannot be negotiated above the maximum salary listed at this time

Location

This is a remote-first position, with the option for hybrid (part-time in the office) work in addition to a monthly in-person day typically, the first Tuesday of each month, though other in-office days may be required for BC-based employees. PeaceGeeks’ has a work-anywhere policy, whereby employees can work from anywhere, as long as they are online and available during core hours (Tuesday - Fri 9 - 5pm Pacific Time), and commit to traveling to Vancouver at their own expense, once per quarter for 3-day all-team meetings.

PeaceGeeks is currently piloting a Flexible Monday schedule, whereby staff have the opportunity to choose which Mondays they work based on business needs and their current workload.
