Bill (B.A., B.Sc., FSA, FCIA) graduated from Dalhousie University (B.A., B.Sc. 1970) and completed his actuarial training in 1974. He worked with Maritime Life for 34 years, rising to the office of President and CEO in 1995. In his nine years as President, Maritime Life grew maintained strong growth and a commitment to both customers and employees. It ranked every year among the leaders in the Report on Business list of top 50 employers in Canada. Bill currently sits on the Board of the Bank of Canada, while also serving on the Board of The Global Risk Institute, Dalhousie University, The Shaw Group, Standard Life of Canada, Symphony Nova Scotia (Past Chairman). He also leads an executive leadership seminar for CEO’s and senior executives. He has previously served as Chairman of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Public Affairs (CCEPA), and the IWK Health Center. Bill is a member of the Board of PeaceGeeks International.
