mission & objectives

Peace Geeks mission is to empower non-profit organizations working on the promotion of peace, accountability and human rights by remotely connecting them to skilled volunteers to help improve access to technology, training and tools. We connect these partner organizations to skilled volunteers who will work with them remotely to help build their communications capacities, address key challenges to help strengthen impact in their communities.

Objectives

Peace Geeks has four key objectives to aimed at promoting adherence to the human rights enshrined in the United Nations Declaration
of Human Rights and other United Nations pronouncements. We do this by:

  1. Developing web sites, applications, tools and games that enable non-­‐profit organizations working on the promotion of peace, accountability and human rights in developing countries to better reach, engage, empower, educate and service constituents;
  2. Showcasing how technology, art, media and other tools are being used as tools of peacebuilding;
  3. Connecting skilled volunteers and academics with non-­‐profit organizations working on the promotion of peace, accountability and human rights in developing countries; and
  4. Developing Community of Practice sites where different organizations working on similar issues can connect to share best practices and experiences, and to develop coordinated strategies.
