Director of Marketing

The Director of Marketing is responsible for overseeing and executing the marketing plan with the assistance of a Marketing Coordinator. This person will be responsible for creating a scope of work, project plan and timeline for each task, as well as coordinating and communicating with team members to track progress. This person will also be primarily responsible for the management of the web site, newsletter and other communication tools.

Qualifications

- At least 10 years of relevant work experience and 5 years of experience managing a marketing, communications or PR team.
- A degree in a related field including Business, Communications or Public Relations
- Interest in international issues
- Strong research skills
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultures
- Specific experience working or volunteering in similar capacities for non-profits would be considered an asset

Deliverables & Duties
1. Website
- Manage and approve website content
- Develop long-term plan for website aesthetic, functionality and management
- Draft and approve website copy

2. Social Media
- Refine a social media strategy to effectively reach our target audiences

3. PR & Media
- Develop public relations materials (Media Kit, Press Release Template & Public Relations plan)
- Produce press releases as needed

4. Volunteer Newsletter
- Work with the HR Team on the production of 4 Volunteer Newsletters annually

5. Policies
- Develop and refine marketing and communications policies as needed (i.e. for approving marketing materials, web site changes, identifying appropriate time frame, etc.)

6. Other
- Develop and approval other marketing materials as needed
- Manage the Peace Geeks brand

Other Requirements

The expected time commitment for this volunteer posting is 5 - 10 hours per week. We would ideally like to have 1 candidate for this role, but would also consider a co-management arrangement with the role being shared across two professionals who would work closely together.
